Family of four dies in early morning accident in Kota Tinggi


KOTA TINGGI: A family of four died when their car was involved in a three-vehicle collision at KM55 along Jalan Kota Tinggi-Bandar Tenggara early Thursday (Feb 7).

The victims have been identified as Mohd Firdaus Januri, 34, his wife Norlia Osman, 33, and their two children, Muhammad Adli, six, and Nur Dalili, four.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Ashmon Bajah said that the incident, which occurred at about 12.33am on Thursday, involved another car and a lorry.

“Initial investigations found that the lorry driver had lost control of his vehicle before veering off in the opposite lane and colliding with the two cars.

“The collision killed the four victims at the scene while the driver of the Proton suffered minor injuries,” he told Bernama.

Supt Ashmon added that the bodies of the victims have been sent to the Kota Tinggi Hospital for postmortem.

He added that the 30-year-old lorry driver has been remanded to assist with the investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
