Musa Aman's son Yamani finally sworn in as Sipitang MP

KUALA LUMPUR: Yamani Hafez Musa has finally been sworn in as Sipitang MP in Parliament on Monday (Jan 7) - eight months after the 14th General Election.

Yamani, who is the son of former Sabah chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, took his oath of office before Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof.

The former Sabah Umno youth chief was the only lawmaker in the 222-seat Dewan Rakyat who had not been sworn in at Parliament.

It was previously explained by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong that Yamani, who did not get sworn in on July 16 last year along with the other MPs, would lose his eligibility after six months under Article 59 of the Federal Constitution.

On Dec 12 last year, Yamani was among five MPs from Sabah Umno to leave the party to become independents.
