PAS Youth holds rally to protest high cost of living

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS youth held a rally in the heart of the city to protest the high cost of living for Malaysians.

The rally, called "Hit & Run Derita Rakyat", started around 9pm on Monday (Dec 31) and lasted about an hour.

The crowd, which gathered outside Sogo shopping complex, held up signs that called for lower fuel prices and the abolishment of PTPTN.

PAS Youth chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi blamed the Pakatan Harapan government for the high costs of living. 

“They have made so many promises to ease the suffering of the people, but all we see is them going back on their word.

“The cut in funding for farmers and fishermen announced in the budget is a blow for the common man,” he said at the rally.

He urged the government to think about the people and the promises they made to come into power.

A light drizzle did not dampen the spirits of the protesters, who chanted and held up the signs to curious onlookers. 

The rally ended peacefully around 10pm.
