Jackie Chan: I’ve not been a good father

HONG Kong superstar Jackie Chan (pic) has admitted that he had not been a good father to his 36-year-old son Jaycee Chan.

“I now support my son Jaycee in whatever he does. I can’t make the same mistakes,” Sin Chew Daily quoted him as saying.

Another of his regrets was not doing well in his studies.

“If I had put more effort in school, I believe I would be better now and not make so many mistakes,” he said.

The 64-year-old star had come under much criticism following revelations in his memoir.

Jackie’s autobiography, Never Grow Up, came out in 2015 but its English translation was just released earlier this month.

He opened up about patronising prostitutes, cheating on his wife and being an abusive father during his younger days.

Commenting on the criticism against him, he said:

“If I were afraid, I would not have openly admitted it in my book.

“To err is human. We must be honest.

“I just hope that others would avoid the mistakes I made.

“I also want to thank my wife for being understanding and forgiving all these years,” he said.

China Press reported that the 28-year-old woman was supposed to leave for the United States after her Malaysian trip but had to postpone her plans following the theft.

She had kept the money in her luggage when she went out. Upon returning to her room at night, she noticed her cash missing.

According to initial police findings, it is believed that two part-time workers who cleaned her room were involved.

One of them has been taken in for questioning.
