Give Waytha a chance, says PM

SERDANG: The Prime Minister says that people must not judge from the past and should give Minister of Unity P. Waytha Moorthy a chance to show what he can do.

"I too was Mahazalim (Most Evil One) and from Umno, but you all made me the PM," said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad here Thursday (Nov 22).

He was commenting on the public petition, asking Waytha Moorthy to resign over his past racist statements while he was in Hindraf and his line up in his office which does not reflect all races.

"Give him a chance. He is in the government and he of course appoints people from Hindraf and Indians he knows. Line up must be from all races.

"You all can make a petition, but Waytha Moorthy does not want to resign. You media can make a petition for me to resign and not answer your questions also," said Dr Mahathir.

He said this after officiating the Malaysian Horticulture and Agricultural Expo 2018 here.

A petition calling for Waytha Moorthy to be sacked has so far garnered over 100,000 signatures.

The petition on change.org is by Gerakan Pengundi Sedar (GPS), posted by one Aiman Haziq on Sunday (Nov 18) and addressed to Dr Mahathir.
