Two cops killed in road accident while escorting SPM 2018 papers


Two police officers were killed when their patrol car met with an accident at KM183 of the East-Coast Highway heading to Kuantan. - Bernama

PETALING JAYA: Two police officers who were escorting the SPM 2018 examination papers died in an accident while travelling from Bentong to Kuantan at 3.20pm on Tuesday (Oct 23). 

Both driver Roslan Maon and passenger Watson Anak Edin were from the Pahang police headquarters. 

They were escorting a vehicle that was transporting the SPM 2018 examination papers when their vehicle hit a guardrail along the highway, causing one man to be pinned inside and the other to be thrown out. 

Both men were killed at the scene. 

Their bodies were retrieved by members of the Maran fire and rescue department. Both victims were taken to Hospital Jengka for a post-mortem.

Slippery roads due to the rainy weather was believed to be the cause of the accident which took place at a curve.

The SPM examinations is scheduled to begin on Nov 13.
