KUALA LUMPUR: PAS will be doing a postmortem on its performance at the recently concluded Port Dickson by-election to improve its presence in the constituency, says party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Despite PKR president-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim winning the seat, Abdul Hadi said he was very pleased that PAS managed to pull in more votes in the by-election compared with its numbers during GE14.

“We say congratulations to him (Anwar) and we are happy that PAS got more votes this time.

“Despite standing alone as a party in a seven-cornered fight, our number of votes saw an increase from more than 6,000 to more than 7,000.

“Now what’s more important is to do a postmortem to identify our voters and strengthen our machinery in Port Dickson,” he said when met at the Parliament lobby here on Monday (Oct 15).

In the Port Dickson by-election on Saturday (Oct 13), PAS candidate Lt-Kol (Rtd) Mohd Nazari Moktar polled 7,456 votes compared with its GE14 candidate Mahfuz Roslan, who secured 6,594 votes on May 9.
