Umno's head in the sand, tweets Khairy after Anifah quits

PETALING JAYA: "Sand. Bury. Head."

These are the three words tweeted by former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin after news broke that former Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman has quit Umno.

Khairy also shared Bernama's tweet on Anifah having resigned from the party.

Less than 24 hours before this, Khairy had taken to Twitter to vent his frustration over Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed's resignation from the party.

He tweeted: " I have been vocal in cautioning my party against this alliance with PAS. And I bore the brunt of attacks from within.

"Now, we have lost a leading light of our party. A brilliant and good man. This is on you, Mr Presiden (sic)."

Mustapa, who is Umno supreme council member and Jeli MP, reportedly said he made the decision because he felt the party's current direction was no longer in line with the political principles he upheld.

He also said there was hardly any convincing effort to start rejuvenating the party.

Following Khairy's simple three-word tweet, some Twitter users have questioned if Khairy would be quitting Umno as well. Others asked if other Umno leaders might follow suit.
