PETALING JAYA: Khairy Jamaluddin wants Umno and Barisan Nasional to contest the Port Dickson by-election, saying that they had to fight shameless political entitlement despite it not being a winnable seat.
The Rembau MP was referring to the way Port Dickson MP Datuk Danyal Balagopal Abdullah resigned from his seat to pave the way for PKR president-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to contest and return to parliament.
“Coronations are for kings. And Anwar isn’t one,” he said in a tweet on Monday (Sep 17).
UMNO-BN must contest. PD is not a winnable seat but we must fight this shameless political entitlement.— Khairy Jamaluddin (@Khairykj) September 17, 2018

Pro-Umno blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, who is better known as Papagomo, replied to Khairy, saying that Umno shouldn’t contest and should instead just let Anwar win.
“Wait for him to become MP and then we see who wins. Anwar or Mahathir,” he said.
To this Khairy told him to keep quiet and wear his “fugly” amalgamated Umno-PAS shirt.
‘Don’t disturb those who want to contest,” said Khairy in a tweet that was accompanied by Papagomo wearing the so-called "fugly" shirt.
Umno’s Padang Rengas MP Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz had said he wanted to campaign for Anwar as he believed that it is what is best for Umno to pave its return into the government.
He claimed that there is some common thinking among Umno MPs that they should come back into government as early as possible.
“The only way to do that is to work with PKR... so we should show some goodwill... if we want to form the government, let Anwar win,” he said.
To this, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Nazri’s statement was his personal opinion and did not represent Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN)'s stand.
