Ukrainian footballer dies in hotel room in Penang


GEORGE TOWN: A Ukranian football player, Oleksandr Shcherbinin, a member of the Asia Pacific Master Games (APMG) 2018, died here on Thursday morning (Sept 13).

Shcherbinin, 57, collapsed and died in his hotel room and efforts to revive him in the 6.54am incident failed.

His body has been brought to the Penang Hospital for post mortem.

APMG publicity and media director Loganath Veloo said Shcherbinin played for the Kharkiv Masters football team in the men's 55+ age category.
