Hang cat killers out to dry, urges MAA

PETALING JAYA: Two men were recorded throwing a pregnant cat into a coin-operated dryer in a launderette in Taman Gombak Ria here.

The incident, which took place about 12.30am on Tuesday (Sept 11), was captured on CCTV and uploaded onto Facebook.

The CCTV recording was shared on Malaysian Response Team's Facebook page, where it was established that the duo were regular customers of the launderette, while the cat was a stray cat that lives nearby the area.

"It is sad that the cat had died and was soaked in its own blood," it said.

The caption accompanying the video stated that both MRT and Malaysian Animal Association condemned the act, noting that such a vile act is not accepted among Malaysians, as it does not show a gentle and harmonious culture among Malaysians.

"A police report has been made at the Taman Seri Gombak police station ... and may the offenders be punished according to the Animal Welfare Act 2015," it added.

The video has been viewed over 4,000 times, with many Facebook users feeling angry over the act.
