SHAH ALAM (Bernama): The government will retain the Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) programme as it has proven to be effective in helping to keep neighbourhoods safe as well as instilling unity among the various races in the country.
Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad (pic) stressed that the Pakatan Harapan government would continue with programmes that were beneficial to the people introduced and implemented by the previous administration.
"Whatever (programme) is good in the previous government will be retained and improved to ensure its effectiveness.
"All KRT members need not worry as the Pakatan government will continue to support the programme for as long as it serves as a platform to instil unity among the people of various races and religions, regardless of their political affiliations," he said after officiating the KRT Rumah Teres Fasa 1, Section 9 here Sunday (Sept 2).
Present was Unity and Integration Department director-general Datuk Baharin Idris.
Khalid who is also the Shah Alam MP, also said that he would provide assistance to KRTs in his constituency to encourage them to be more active and facilitate them in carrying out their activities. – Bernama
