Ex-spy chief's lawyer challenges MACC notice barring him from seeing client

KUALA LUMPUR: Lawyer Datuk Shaharudin Ali is challenging the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s notice that bars him from seeing his client, ex-intelligence agency chief Datuk Hasanah A Hamid, who is now under a five-day remand.

In a statement Thursday (Aug 30), Shaharudin said he has initiated proceedings against the MACC at the High Court here in seeking a declaration that Section 28A(8) and (9) of the Criminal Procedure Code is ultra vires to the Federal Constitution and therefore void and of no effect.
