Strong winds bring down ceiling of Bukit Raja toll plaza

PETALING JAYA: Strong winds caused the ceiling of the Bukit Raja toll plaza in Klang to collapse at about 10pm Friday (Aug 24).

Photos and videos circulating on social media showed parts of the ceiling and debris scattered across the nine-lane toll plaza, causing massive traffic jams as vehicles were unable to pass through.

It is believed that both sides of the toll booth are closed and traffic is being diverted.

There are no reports of injuries so far.

Plus Malaysia confirmed the incident on Twitter.

"2200hrs (10pm) - There is an incident involving the Bukit Raja toll suffering damage. Please use the alternative exits at the nearby toll plaza," it said on Twitter.

According to Selangor Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department chief Supt Azman Shari'at said the incident caused a one-kilometre jam.

As of 11pm, traffic headed from Shah Alam headed to Klang can go through the three leftmost lanes of the toll plaza.

He added that work to clear the debris is ongoing.
