Boy, 13, found drowned after playing at lagoon


John Alfeus, a 13 yr old boy from Kem Penrissen, found dead in a lagoon along Sungai Landih near Kuching last night.

MIRI: A 13-yr-old boy was found drowned in a 4m-deep lagoon along Sungai Landih about 15km from Kuching.

The incident on Tuesday (Aug 21) saw Bomba units carrying out search-and-rescue operations after receiving an alert for help.

The boy was first reported missing at the lagoon at around 5pm, and operations launched by the fire department led to the discovery of the body of the victim, John Alfreus, at about 7pm.

The victim was from Kem Penrissen, and he was believed to have gone to the lagoon to play.

Bomba Sarawak said the police had been notified of the case.
