RAWANG: Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari says DAP is wise to field Wong Siew Ki as the candidate for the Balakong by-election as she is a 'grassroots' leader.

"DAP leaders have chosen their best candidate to make sure we (Pakatan) can retain the seat and maintain the super-majority in Selangor," he said after a groundbreaking ceremony for the Selgate Rawang Hospital near here on Friday (Aug 17).

The private hospital is the first of 10 such facilities in the state, and is expected to be completed by December 2019 at a total cost of RM130mil.

Amirudin said he believed Wong had good connection with the grassroots.

"She has worked for (Seri Kembangan assemblyman) Ean Yong Hian Wah as an assistant and as a councillor.

"She has has a lot of experience serving the people.

"I believe it's a wise decision by the DAP, and Pakatan will work very hard to retain the seat," he said.

The Election Commission has set nomination day for the Balakong by-election on Aug 18, and polling day on Sept 8.
