Dr M conferred honorary doctorate by Japan varsity

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has received an honorary doctorate from the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan.

The 93-year-old premier was conferred the honorary doctorate for his contributions to the advancement of scholarship, culture and humanity and distinguished service to the university.

His wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali was also present at the ceremony, according to pictures uploaded on his Facebook page on Thursday (Aug 9) night.

Dr Mahathir was in Japan on a four-day working visit to Fukuoka and Oita from Aug 6 to 9. He also delivered a keynote address at the Japan Future Leaders School in Fukuoka.
