Restaurant says viral pictures did not represent real situation

PETALING JAYA: The manager of a restaurant which went viral on social media after its workers were seen cleaning poultry and fish on the roadside by the restaurant has claimed that the pictures published did not represent the entire situation.

He refuted the claim that his staff had cleaned chickens by the road, saying that his staff were cleaning fish that fell on the road after the bags the fish were in ripped by their fins.

The manager - who wanted to be known as Chee - said the workers picked up the fish, adding that the fish had been washed in the restaurant's kitchen.

Chee also said that its chickens were all handled meticulously as one of its best-selling dishes was steamed chicken.

 He also addressed the plastic bags which were seen on the ground next to its workers.

He said those plastic bags contained vegetables which were left there by their suppliers.

"The workers did not have time to pick up the plastic bags into the kitchen yet," he told The Star on Sunday (July 22).

However, he accepted criticism that it was not right for the vegetables to be placed  on the roadside even though they were in plastics bags

"I will be more careful next time, I will also notify the suppliers to place the vegetables higher," he said.

Earlier, Facebook user Louisa Won posted a photo of a group of men cleaning poultry on the ground at the alleyway of the kitchen of the restaurant. 

Won claimed that the restaurant was located at Equine Park in Seri Kembangan.

The viral post on Facebook had gained 7700 shares and 996 comments in 20 hours since it was posted on Sunday
