Muhyiddin: Police have identified Jamal's whereabouts in Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: Fugitive Umno politician Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos is believed to still be in Indonesia, said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Home Minister said the police have identified his whereabouts and are in the midst of coordinating with Indonesian authorities.

“We are cooperating well with Indonesian authorities. Our priority is to detain him and bring him back to Malaysia,” he told a press conference after attending the Bukit Aman Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house here on Tuesday (June 26).

Jamal had earlier contested in the race for Umno Youth chief’s post but lost, receiving only 24 votes from delegates when voting ended.

He was nowhere in sight at Putra World Trade Centre when polls for the Umno wings were held over the weekend.

On Friday (June 22), Jamal posted a video on Facebook, appealing to party delegates to pick him as the Umno Youth leader.

Jamal has been on the run since May 25 – even before his bail documentation was completed – after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing public nuisance.
