Anwar rushed to hospital due to severe prolapsed disc

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) was rushed to the hospital due to a severe prolapsed disc on Saturday (June 23) night.

In a statement by the PKR adviser's family, it said doctors were currently monitoring and evaluating his condition.

"His family is with him at the moment and remain grateful for all the concern, prayers and support received. We have been advised to request that our father not receive any visitors as he undergoes the necessary observation and treatment," the statement read.

Anwar was taken to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) on Saturday (June 23) night for treatment after complaining of shoulder and back pain.

Anwar has been suffering from continuous pain in his right shoulder, which worsened after a car accident on Sept 22, 2017.

He underwent surgery on his right shoulder at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) in November last year.
