Don’t overeat during Hari Raya, says Dr M

PETALING JAYA: Don't over-eat during Hari Raya, said Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“We should eat moderately. If we are eating more than usual, it should not be too much,” he said in a video uploaded on his Facebook page on Thursday (June 14).

The 93-year-old leader has always shared that his formula for a long and healthy life is not to overeat.

“Today is the last day we fast but still I have to work until the evening. To those who are on their way home, please drive carefully as your family is waiting for you. Don’t disappoint them,” he said.

He also urged people to not use firecrackers, as this may cause injuries.

Dr Mahathir also responded to some Hari Raya questions, saying that his favourite kuih is kuih makmur, his favourite Raya song is “Selamat Hari Raya” by Sudirman and his favourite colour for Raya clothes is purple.

“My favourite Raya moment is when the whole family gather after praying,” he added.

Dr Mahathir said his sweetest Raya memory was when all his family members managed to gather on one Hari Raya.

“Sometimes, not all of them can make it. It was not that cheerful then. Once, all my family members were back. We managed to take a group photo,” he shared.

At the end of the video, he invited all to attend the open house hosted by him and his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.
