PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has announced three incentives that will be given to Malaysians should Barisan Nasional continue to be given the mandate to govern the country.
In the first incentive, Najib said youths aged below 26-years-old will not need to pay income tax from assessment year 2017 onwards if Barisan Nasional wins in the general election.
"Youths under 26 who are working, regardless of their income, will not have to pay income tax," he said during a special live telecast of his speech on TV3 on Tuesday (May 8).
Najib added that he knew that the youths in the nation needed the money to purchase cars, pay rent for their houses, and also to give extra cash to their parents.
He also said that taxes which have previously been paid will be refunded back to them.
Meanwhile, he also said public holidays which will fall on May 14 and 15 will be given to Malaysians.
Najib said Malaysians can use the extra holiday to spend time with their families or prepare for Ramadan.
In addition, Najib said for Hari Raya this year, Malaysians will not have to pay for toll chargers for five days.
"Toll charges will not have to be paid two days before Hari Raya for those that will go back to their hometowns, and on the first, second, and third day of Hari Raya," he said.
