'Captain Marvel' Radhi Mat Din to take on Mahfuz in Pokok Sena

ALOR SETAR: Kedah football legend Radhi Mat Din has been named the PAS candidate for Pokok Sena for GE14.

Party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang made the announcement at a ceramah in Kuala Kedah on Saturday (April 14).

Kedah PAS commissioner Dr Fakhruddin Sheikh Fakhrurrazi and pharmacist Muhamad Riduan Othman will contest the Pengkalan Kundur state seat and Kuala Kedah parliamentary seat respectively.

Radhi, who was nicknamed "Captain Marvel" during his playing days, is set to take on incumbent Datuk Mahfuz Omar, who joined Amanah early this year after 34 years in PAS.

Save for 2004, Mahfuz has won the Pokok Sena seat in every general election since 1999.

During GE13, he retained the seat with a majority of 3,935 votes against his Barisan Nasional opponent Datuk Sahlan Ismail, who received 32,263 votes.
