DAP's Wong Tack to face off with Liow in Bentong

BENTONG: DAP will once again field Wong Tack in the Bentong parliamentary seat, setting up a rematch with MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng made the announcement at a ceramah here on Sunday night.

Liow, the four-term Bentong MP since 1999, won the seat in the last general election with a majority of 379 votes against environmentalist Wong Tack, who contested under the DAP ticket.

Lim also announced that incumbent Mentakab assemblyman Tengku Zulpuri Shah Raja Puji will be pitted against MCA vice-president Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun for the Raub parliamentary seat.

The party's candidate for the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat is M. Manogaran, who lost by 462 votes to MIC's G. Palanivel in the last general election.

Also present at the event were former Bersih 2.0 chairman Ambiga Sreenevasan, DAP national chairman Tan Kok Wai, DAP vice-chairman Teresa Kok and Pahang DAP chairman Leong Ngah Ngah.

Tan announced that DAP will contest eight state seats in Pahang.

The candidates are Leong Yu Mun (Triang), Woo Chee Wan (Mentakab), Kamache Doray Rajoo (Sabai), Young Syefura Othman (Ketari), Lee Chin Chen (Bilut), Chow Yu Hui (Tras), Chong Yoke Kong (Tanah Rata) and Abu Bakar (Pulau Manis).
