Umno division chief held after positive drug test

KUALA LUMPUR: An Umno division chief has been arrested after testing positive for drugs during a raid on a karaoke lounge along Jalan Imbi.

The suspect, who is a Datuk, is speculated to contest a parliamentary seat in the general election.

The joint operation was conducted by police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission after an anonymous tip-off about the outlet operating without proper licences.

Sources said a urine test was conducted on the man which came back positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.

The source revealed that 10 people, including two women, were in the karaoke room during the raid at about 2am yesterday.

The division chief was brought to the Dang Wangi police headquarters for further action.

He was later released on bail.
