Two armed robbers shot dead near Rawang

PETALING JAYA: Two suspected robbers were shot dead after attempting to attack police personnel in the Templer area, near Rawang.

The suspects, believed to be remnants of the robbery gang that was busted about a week ago in the same area, were shot at about 4.30am on Friday (March 16).

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said a team from Selangor police headquarters tracked down the suspects to their hideout in Templer.

"As we were about to arrest them, the suspects tried to attack police personnel.

"We had no choice but to fire a few shots," he said when contacted.

On March 9, another gang member, who was armed with a machete was shot by police as he was trying to break into a house in Templer Saujana along with two others.

A team from the Selangor Police Serious Crimes Unit was conducting operations at the Templer Park area here when they received information from the Gombak Police operations centre about a house break-in.

When police arrived at the scene at 4am, they saw three men acting suspiciously.

In the midst of making the arrests, the suspect attacked the police with a machete and the police personnel were forced to open fire at the suspect while two others escaped.

The gang is believed to be responsible for 17 robbery cases in Rawang and Selayang, involving more than RM260,000 worth of losses.
