Luis Suarez: Sabah a 'must-visit' for divers

PETALING JAYA: Football star Luis Suarez is urging people to dive - not on the football pitch, but in the crystal clear waters of Sabah.

"To all the diving and snorkeling buffs out there, Sabah is a must-visit for you! Look at the crystal clear waters swarming with exotic marine life and beautiful coral reefs,” the Barcelona and Uruguay forward said in a tweet on Saturday (March 3).

Sabah is known for having some of the best dive sites in the world, among them Sipadan Island, Layang Layang Island, Mataking Island, Mabul and the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park.

Last week, Suarez, who is Tourism Malaysia's ambassador, praised  Sarawak on Twitter.

"Gunung Mulu National Park is one of the most majestic and thrilling nature destinations located in the state of Sarawak. Hiking around here will take you up some dramatic peaks and magnificent caves," the 31-year-old footballer wrote.

Tourism Malaysia had last year sealed a partnership deal with Suarez for a year-long collaboration, following a contract signed between Tourism Malaysia and Mediapro, the footballer's Asian representative.
