Kuok is a patriot, says Nazir

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Nazir Razak has posted a tribute to Robert Kuok on Instagram, saying that he is a patriot and an icon of Malaysian business.

Reposting a picture that was taken last year, the chairman of CIMB Group Holdings Bhd on Wednesday said that he has been lucky enough to spend time with Kuok over the course of many years and had also read his book.

“I may not agree with all his views but he is a patriot, the icon of Malaysian business and a first class gentleman,” said Nazir, who is the brother of Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Last week, blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin posted three articles on his website, alleging Kuok was funding various political parties to overthrow the Government.

It was reported that several leaders criticised Kuok, after the publication of those articles.

In response, Kuok refuted the allegations and that he would reserve the right to take action against the portal.

The Prime Minister’s press secretary Datuk Seri Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad said in a statement on Tuesday that Kuok’s story is an inspiration to other entrepreneurs to succeed.
