KUALA LUMPUR: Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) could be granted university status by the end of this year, says Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
"We can apply for university status after being a university college for five years. We will be applying and I am confident that this will be granted by the end of this year," the MCA president said in his speech at "Going 50: People Behind The TARC History" event on Tuesday (Feb 13).
Liow is the chairman of the board of trustees of the TARC Education Foundation as well as the board of governors of TAR UC.
The event, hosted by Liow, saw the naming of buildings after 10 founding leaders to honour them for their important contributions in the history of TAR UC.
TAR UC will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Feb 24, 2019.
