PETALING JAYA: The Education Ministry has established a special internal investigation committee to investigate the case where a 14-year-old student was killed by a lawn tractor blade at a secondary school in Negri Sembilan.
A grass-cutting tractor was cutting grass at SM Tuanku Abdul Rahman in Gemas, while students were having march-past rehearsals 30m away at around 10.30am on Tuesday (Feb 13).
"When the tractor stopped, a loud noise was heard by all the students involved in the rehearsal," said the Ministry in a statement on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Form Two student Nur Afini Roslan, who died of head injuries.
Another Form Two student and a Form One student were also injured in the freak accident and were sent to Gemas health clinic.
The Ministry said the special internal investigation committee will be chaired by the Negri Sembilan Education director to identify the cause of the incident.
"The Education Ministry expressed sadness, sympathy and regret over the incident and condolences to the family of the students involved.
"The Education Ministry also seeks the cooperation of all parties to stop the dissemination of information about this incident out of respect for the feelings of the families involved, teachers and other students at the school," it said.
