Cook stabbed to death in snatch theft

BATU PAHAT: A 47-year-old cook was stabbed to death in a snatch theft along Jalan Sutera 7 at Taman Sutera in Yong Peng here.

Tan Chi Ann was riding her motorcycle on her way back home when she was approached at around 1.25am on Tuesday (Feb 13) morning.

It is believed that the victim received several stab wounds to her chest before dying while seeking medical treatment at a private hospital here at around 3am.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Wahib Musa said the victim was on her way home after visiting her family’s house not far from the incident.

“We believe that more than one suspect was involved, with one of them trying to snatch the victim’s handbag," he said.

ACP Abdul Wahib said that Tan put up a fight.

“The suspects then became aggressive and stabbed her several times,” he said adding that the victim’s handbag was not found at the scene.

He added the case was classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and urged those who witness the incident to contact the state police hotline at 07-2212999 or lodge a report at the nearest police hotline.
