Penang Island gets a new mayor


GEORGE TOWN: Penang Island City Council (MBPP) secretary Yew Tung Seang has been named the new city mayor.

He replaces Datuk Maimunah Mohd Sharif, who has decided to accept the post of executive director of the United Nations' Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), state Local Government Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow announced on Wednesday.
