Family of petrol station murder victim gather at mortuary

JOHOR BARU: A few people believed to be friends and relatives of the victim of the Jalan Sri Pelangi petrol station murder Sunday night were seen waiting for his body to be released from the mortuary.

They were seen entering and milling about at the compound of the Hospital Sultan Ismail mortuary at about 10am on Monday.

One of the women, believed to be the victim’s wife and clad in a black t-shirt, was seen crying.

Noticing the presence of the media, another woman spoke to the mortuary security guard who then told the reporters to leave the compound.

According to the undertaker in charge of the funeral, the postmortem is expected to be completed by Monday afternoon.

The 44-year-old deceased, whose nickname is believed to have been “Ah Chiu”, was stabbed in an attack by four suspects, who then ran over him twice in their white BMW, at the petrol station in Taman Pelangi on 7.30pm Sunday.

He had parked his Volkswagen Polo at the petrol station to check his tyres when the suspects got out and immediately attacked him.

A video of the horrific attack, taken by an onlooker, has since gone viral.
