KUALA LUMPUR: New Zealand’s Governor-General Dame Patsy Reddy, who is on her maiden visit to Malaysia, was accorded a state welcome at the grounds of Parliament here yesterday.
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V attended the state welcoming ceremony, which was also attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Dame Patsy, who became Governor-General in September last year, is also scheduled to visit the Malaysian Islamic Art Museum and Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque.
Later, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman held a 30-minute meeting with Dame Patsy, who began her four-day visit yesterday.
The Foreign Ministry, in a statement yesterday, said the visit was to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between New Zealand and Malaysia.
Her visit was at the invitation of Sultan Muhammad V. — Bernama
