Universiti Malaya's engineering school Top 10 in world

KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Malaya’s Engineering school is now ranked among the top 10 in the world, said Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.

The Higher Education Minister said the ranking was just released on Tuesday (Nov 28) on US News Education website.

“US News has compiled 600 top global universities and in the engineering field, UM (Universiti Malaya) is recognised as 10th best in the world.

“I believe this is a significant acknowledgement of our education system, in realising our programmes such as the Industry Revolution 4.0,” he told reporters at Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 29).

According to the website, UM recorded an overall score of 86.3%, trailing behind Imperial College London, Britain which scored 87.7%.

The top Engineering school is Tsinghua University in Beijing, China which recorded a perfect score of 100%, followed by Singapore’s National University of Singapore with 94.5%.

Meanwhile, the storied Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States was ranked at No 3 with an overall score of 93.2%.
