Malaysia to share counter-terrorism expertise, says Hisham

RIYADH: Malaysia is ready to share its expertise in counter-terrorism with members of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), said Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

The Defence Minister said the understanding and cooperation forged between all parties should be the utmost priority.

"We have to admit that there may be a lot of differences between us but what divides us pales in comparison to what unites us. 

"It would be disastrous if we approach everything from a zero-sum game. We would get nothing done.

"The key is for us to be able to accept our differences, find common ground on the problems we face and go forward together," he said during a speech at the inaugural meeting of IMCTC here on Sunday (Nov 26).

He said that as leaders of Muslim nations, it was their responsibility to address the problem of terrorists who have tarnished the face of Islam.

"Today’s meeting is important because if not for us, who else can we rely on to take the helm in 
this war against terror?

“As fellow Muslims and brothers in the Ummah, it is us who will bear the greatest burden if the cause of peace fails," said Hishammuddin.

Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud had officiated the meeting of the 41-nation pan-Islamic coalition that was held at the Al Faisaliah Hotel hotel here amid tight security.

IMCTC have said that they will fight terrorism through four domains: Ideology, Communications, Counter-Terrorist Financing and the Military.
