Eight-year-old girl jumps to her death after being reprimanded

JOHOR BARU: An eight-year-old girl, who was reprimanded by her mother, is believed to have jumped to her death from the ninth floor of an apartment at Taman Tampoi Indah here.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Taib Ahmad said the incident was believed to have occurred after the mother told off the victim for making noise in the house.

"Initial investigation revealed that due to the complaint, the victim locked herself in her room before jumping through a window of the apartment located along Jalan Skudai Lama here," he said in a statement on Saturday (Nov 25).

He added that the victim sustained severe head injuries in the 2.30pm incident on Friday (Nov 24).

"It is believed that the argument had led to the incident and that the mother did not expect the victim would commit such an act," he said.

ACP Mohd Taib said that the case has been classified as sudden death pending further investigations.
