Celebrity couple Fazura and Fattah announce wedding engagement

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Nur Fazura Sharifuddin and actor Fattah Amin have confirmed that they are engaged.

The pair officially made the official announcement at a packed press conference on Thursday.

"On Nov 13, I sent a merisik (seeking) party to Fazura's family home and we were engaged on the same day," Fattah said.

It was previously speculated that Fazura and Fattah may have held a private solemnisation ceremony at a home in Petaling Jaya on Nov 14. White canopies and floral decorations were seen at the venue then. However, the media was barred from the house.

Fazura and Fattah clarified that the event on Nov 14 was actually a send-off ceremony for them and their respective families to perform umrah in Mecca.

"We held our engagement ceremony privately as both our families had requested for us to do so. The plan was for us to announce our engagement after our return from Mecca," Fattah said.

The press conference was held hours after the pair arrived at the airport after flying back from Mecca.

They also announced plans to hold a solemnisation ceremony at a later date.

Fazura, 34, and Fattah, 27 starred as on-screen lovers in the popular television drama Hero Seorang Cinderella, which premiered in May this year.

Rumours of a real-life romance between the two was much-talked about in the media. The hashtag #FattZura was created by fans to celebrate the sensational pairing.

Fazura is an award-winning actress notable for her roles in local films like Gol & Gincu, Pisau Cukur and Manisnya Cinta Di Cappadocia. Fattah is a model-turned-TV heartthrob who won the Most Popular Artiste award at this year's Anugerah Bintang Popular.
