GEORGE TOWN: Three-term Sungai Puyu DAP assemblyman Phee Boon Poh (pic) will defend the seat in the next general election if his services are still needed.
Phee, 66, the State Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman, said he would contest if the people needed him.
“There are still a lot of things to be done, especially now since we have just faced a disaster.
“If people feel I am still needed, I will still be around,” he told a press conference on the sidelines of the state assembly sitting here yesterday.
He announced the handing over of RM40,000 in donations from the Lim Lian Geok Cultural Development Centre and Persatuan Kawan Karib Pulau Pinang to the DAP’s Penang Storm and Flood Relief Fund.
Phee, who first won the Sungai Puyu seat in 2004, was responding to a question if he would also not seek re-election after a few other assemblymen stated that they would not contest in the next general election.
Besides Sungai Puyu, he was also a one-term Bagan Jermal assemblyman from 1990 to 1995.
