Condo folk take flight as hillside road collapses

GEORGE TOWN: It began with an ear-splitting crack when the first front porch roof fell. It was so loud that residents high up in the condominium tower opposite were jolted awake.

At first, they thought something went wrong with the newly-built houses in Persiaran Tanjung Bungah 3, but as they watched the road collapse and become a massive sinkhole about 10m deep and 40m across, they were horrified.
