Anyone linked to gay party barred from entering M’sia

BUTTERWORTH: The Immigration Department will get more information from the police and other enforcement agencies on the gay party supposedly to be held in Kuala Lumpur at the end of the month, says director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali.

He said the department would ensure that those involved would be denied entry to the country as provided for under Section 8 of the Immigration Act.

“The Government has decided to ban the party and our department has been tasked with barring anyone or organiser from entering Malaysia.

“I don’t understand those who choose to question our actions because it (the party) is not our culture. It’s not just a question of religion, but that it is too abnormal for us (in Malaysia),” he told reporters after meeting employers over the issue of foreign workers here yesterday.

On Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the Government would not allow any gay event or party.

Dr Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said although the organiser had yet to apply for a permit, he had ordered the police not to approve such a request.

It was reported that the party was being held to promote the biggest gay gathering in Asia – the White Party Bangkok in Thailand – scheduled for Dec 28.

On another matter, Mustafar said employers need not fear or worry about applying for foreign workers for their companies because the department was always ready to approve such applications if all guidelines had been adhered to.

He also advised employers not to apply for workers via middlemen to prevent them from being cheated. — Bernama
