Selangor government regrets MACC raids on Unisel, MBI

Six uniformed officers from the national anti-graft body arrived at the campus here at 9.50am on Tuesday in two separate vehicles.

SHAH ALAM: The agreement brokered by Universiti Selangor (Unisel) and Jana Niaga Sdn Bhd does not  involve Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali personally.

 

In a statement, strategic communications director in the Mentri Besar's office Yin Shao Loong said the agreement, which was  based on good governance, did not also involve Azmin in his capacity as a decision maker in the dispute settlement between Unisel and contractor Jana Niaga.

This follows the raids on Unisel, Jana Niaga and Mentri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Tuesday.

"The Selangor government's stance on this matter is based on the decision by both parties for an

out-of-court settlement," said Yin.

 

He said the Selangor government would continue to cooperate with the MACC in its investigations on Unisel and MBI.

 

However, Yin said the state strongly defended its principle of accountability and integrity in administrating the Selangor government and its companies.

 

Yin also said the Selangor government regretted the MACC's move of raiding Unisel and MBI.

 

"It clearly indicates planned action intended to tarnish the Selangor government's image," said Yin, reiterating that the state government strictly upheld the principle of transparency and accountability.

 

He urged the MACC to investigate the matter professionally and not to bow to political pressure.
