KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Aliff Aziz was detained for allegedly assaulting his wife Bella Astillah at a karaoke centre in Cheras here.

It is learnt that Bella had gone to the karaoke centre in Taman Shamelin accompanied by her mother at about 4.30pm on Thursday to look for her husband.

However, when she discovered that he was with another woman in one of the karaoke rooms, an argument broke out between the couple.

It is believed that Bella took pictures of Aliff and the other woman using a smartphone, resulting in a scuffle when the singer tried to grab the phone.

Aliff managed to get hold of the phone and deleted the pictures.

It is believed that the singer stormed out of the room with the other woman, leaving the wife with injuries on her face and knees.

She later received treatment at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre before lodging a police report.

It is learnt that the singer was arrested at about 2am yesterday.

When contacted, City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed the case.

Attempts to contact Aliff were unsuccessful.
