The Star wins prestigious CSR Award

KUALA LUMPUR: Star Media Group's corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts were recognised at the CSR Awards 2017.

The media group emerged as the Company of The Year in the award's print media category, thanks to the commitment to social welfare shown by Star Foundation, the group's charitable arm.

Present at the award ceremony was Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Karim who lauded companies present for their efforts in assisting underprivileged communities in Malaysia.

"I strongly believe that the CSR Malaysia Awards 2017 will set a powerful force in motion and it is important as each and every CSR leader present here today plays a role in assisting my ministry in planning and execute effective future programmes for communities in need," she said during her speech on Thursday.

The CSR Malaysia Awards 2017 was organised by the CSR Malaysia magazine, a free publication.

Recipients of the awards were recognised for going the extra mile to reach out to needy communities and to engage in sustainable endeavours to create a better Malaysia.

Apart from The Star, other notable recipients were RHB Bank, Exim Bank, AirAsia X, Air Basis, Nestle, Bank Islam, KPMG and LBS Bina Group, among others.
