JB central municipal council to be upgraded to city council status


JOHOR BARU: From Nov 22, the Johor Baru Central Municipal Council (MPJBT) will be known as the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP).

MPJBT president Adib Azhari Daud said that they were organising various programme to help promote the upgrading of MPJBT to MBIP.

"The council is also in the midst of setting up a new council building located at Medini area in Iskandar Puteri.

"We are in the process of discussing the building's layout, construction works and others," he said, adding that its ground-breaking ceremony would also be held on Nov 22.

Adib said this to reporters during the MPJBT Hari Raya open house, which was attended by Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin at the council's building in Skudai on Wednesday.
