Family of six escapes fire at Gurney Drive condo

GEORGE TOWN: Six family members escaped unhurt after a fire razed a condominium unit on the 8th floor in Gurney Drive early Saturday.

A Fire and Rescue Services Department spokesman said the fire which occurred at 3.45am destroyed most of the unit.

He said 18 firemen from Bagan Jermal station managed to save the four adults and two children from the fire.

The fire was brought under control two hours later.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
