KUALA LUMPUR: Borrowers of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) can now make their loan repayments consistently through an online direct debit system.
PTPTN chairman Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said this way, the borrowers no longer need to go to PTPTN counters to make repayments but need only register at the PTTPN official portal www.ptptn.gov.my.
"The manual direct debit system was introduced in November last year, but it was more complicated and could cause the application to be rejected," he said.
"With the online direct debit, applications are approved faster, within three working days, and the borrower can opt to make payments through their banks," he said, adding that 17 banks are providing the service.
He was speaking to reporters at an event to announce the new service here on Tuesday.
Shamsul said besides borrowers, depositors in the National Education Scheme (SSPN-i) can also use the scheme.
"We are confident that with this method, the amount of savings would increase and the target of RM4bil in repayments this year can be achieved because as of April, a total of RM1.39bil has been collected.
"Borrowers who make consistent repayments up till Dec 31 this year through the online direct debit will enjoy a 10% discount," he said.Shamsul advised borrowers and depositors to contact the PTPTN Careline to facilitate repayments and deposits. - Bernama
