Zahid hails Najib’s report card

Petaling Jaya: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi congratulated his boss Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on his “extraordinary” achievements over the past year in the economic sector and beyond.

“From an economic achievement standpoint, we know that fundamentally, Malaysia has a solid plan, and is able to appeal to the sentiments and emotions of international and domestic investors,” he said following Najib’s speech, where the latter also praised various enforcement agencies for their achievements in keeping law and order.

“My friends in the Home Ministry, the police, the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation, other agencies and I, wish to thank the Prime Minister,” said Dr Ahmad Zahid, who explained that they felt honoured when the crime rate fell by 47% last year.

“Although we faced many challenges, the fact remains that the numbers are based on the police’s achievements,” he added.

On economic growth, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the NTP report showed Malaysia is on the right track, with various infrastructure projects in the pipeline, including the newly launched Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ).

DFTZ is the first digital economic hub outside of China, and is aimed at creating 60,000 new jobs and listing 1,500 Malaysian SMEs on online marketplace, Alibaba, starting Oct 1.
