KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas has been reappointed the Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri for the seventh term.
Abdul Rahman, 79, received his instrument of appointment for the new four-year term from Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V at a special ceremony at Istana Negara here Friday.
Present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Dewan Negara president Datuk Seri S. A. Vigneswaran and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Born on April 15, 1938 in Kampung Permatang Rambai, Kepala Batas, Penang, Abdul Rahman was first appointed as Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri in 2001.
He was reappointed to the post in 2005, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015.
