YANG di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V hosted a dinner for Japan’s Crown Prince Naruhito, who is the oldest son of Emperor Akihito, at Istana Negara on April 16. Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Prince Naruhito arrived in Kuala Lumpur on April 13, for a five-day official visit to Malaysia, his first to the country.

His visit coincided with the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Malaysia-Japan bilateral relations.

Prince Naruhito also visited the PERMATApintar National Gifted Centre at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, the National Museum, the Smart Tunnel Control Centre and the Japanese School Kuala Lumpur.

The last visit by a Crown Prince of Japan to Malaysia was in 1970 by Emperor Akihito, when he was the Crown Prince, and Empress Michiko, the then Crown Princess. — Bernama
